This Privacy Policy explains how the Calm or Call (“we”, “our”, or “the Service”) handles information when you use our website or app. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
The Calm or Call is designed so that no health or personal data is sent to our servers. The triage questions you answer, the results you see, and any optional labels (e.g. a name you give for “Save this check as”) are processed only in your browser and stored only on your device (see “Local storage” below). We do not receive, store, or have access to this information.
To make the app useful (e.g. “Your last check”, your country for the emergency number, optional name for a saved check), we use your browser’s local storage to save on your device only:
This data stays on your device. We do not copy it to our servers or use it to identify you. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser’s data for this site or by using the “Dismiss” option for the last check in the app.
We may use cookies or similar technologies (e.g. local storage) for the following purposes:
We do not use cookies for advertising. You can withdraw your consent or change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser (which will show the cookie banner again on your next visit) or via your browser’s cookie settings.
If you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to collect information about how the Service is used. This may include:
This data is processed by Google according to Google’s Privacy Policy and How Google uses data on sites that use their services. We do not send any health data or the answers you give in the triage to Google. We use analytics only to improve the Service (e.g. understanding which content is used most).
Analytics runs only after you have clicked “Accept” in the cookie banner. If you click “Decline”, we do not load Google Analytics at all. In some regions (e.g. European Economic Area and UK), we ask for your consent before enabling analytics, in line with applicable law.
The Calm or Call may load resources from the following third parties:
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers (except as described for analytics above, which is processed by Google), there is no account or central profile we hold to access or delete. You can:
If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, you may have additional rights (e.g. access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). To exercise them, contact us; we will respond in line with applicable law. For data stored only on your device, you can exercise erasure by clearing that data as above. For analytics data held by Google, you can use the opt-out and tools described above and in Google’s policies.
The Service is intended for general use, including by parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children on our servers because we do not collect such data on our servers. Any optional name or result you save locally is stored only on your device under your control.
Data in local storage is subject to the security of your device and browser. We do not transmit your triage answers or saved results to our systems. We recommend keeping your device and browser updated and using a secure connection (HTTPS) when using the Service.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we may provide a notice in the app or on the website where possible.
For questions about this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, please contact us using the contact information provided on the Calm or Call website or in the app.
